I make images from environmental data

I'm a Yorkshire-based artist, working with generative systems and, most recently, environmental data, turning the raw signals of the living world into still and time-based work. The dataset sets the rules, and the image is what those rules make.

I started out drawing, long before I could code, and I still do. That instinct anchors the rest: drawn to constraint, and with a fondness for the texture and depth which can be coaxed out of clean lines and structure. I'm drawn to the places where the natural world and human systems overlap, the tension between them both and the creation born from decay and collapse.

The path ran from drawing and illustration into breeding images with early generative/GAN tools, then into aesthetic-focused code, and now into data. I've released work as autre coeur, Ø+Δ and now work solely under my own name. Along the way my art has been shown and collected internationally, including pieces from Mariana Peak at the Cardano Hotel in Barcelona and a generative collection commissioned for the QUT × MIT Sloan EMBA graduation 2024.

24 Birds (2026) is my latest collection. It began as a foraging-ecology study of grey-headed albatrosses and became a set of portraits, one bird's season held in a single figure. The same methods run through the independent environmental-data and GIS projects I build in my own time, which feed the art and are fed by it. Prints are made to order in the UK, signed and numbered by me.
